Henri Pognon (1853–1921) was a French diplomat, archaeologist, epigrapher, and Assyriologist noted for pioneering work on Near Eastern inscriptions. Born in Clermont-Ferrand, he studied law and oriental languages in Paris before joining the foreign service, with postings around the Levant that fueled his fieldwork. Pognon published important editions of Semitic and cuneiform texts—including the Zakkur Stele and volumes such as Les inscriptions babyloniennes du Wadi Brissa and Inscriptions mandaites des coupes de Khouabir—advancing the study of Aramaic, Syriac, and Babylonian epigraphy. He died in Chambéry in 1921
