Aramean Talent Adrian Lahdo Signs with Club Como

The 18-year-old rising star Adrian Lahdo, of Aramean/Syriac origin, has officially left Hammarby IF for the Italian Serie A. In a record-breaking transfer finalized on deadline day, the midfielder has signed a lucrative long-term contract with Como 1907.

After an impressive autumn season in the Allsvenskan, interest in Lahdo exploded across Europe. While renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported interest from multiple clubs globally, it was the Italian club Como—owned by the wealthy Indonesian Hartono brothers—that secured his signature.

According to reports, Como is paying a transfer fee of approximately 12 million EURO. Hammarby’s sporting director, Mikael Hjelmberg, has confirmed that this represents the club's largest-ever deal in terms of net revenue.

The move is also a financial milestone for Lahdo himself. Sources indicate that his new contract, which spans five and a half years, is worth a total of around 12 million EURO. This translates to an annual salary of over 2 million EURO. At Como, he joins fellow Swedish goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist, who was also recruited recently.

Lahdo’s rise has been rapid. During the past season, he made a total of 19 appearances for Hammarby, contributing two goals (one in the Swedish Cup and one in the Allsvenskan) and three assists. He also played a key role for the feeder team, Hammarby TFF, scoring in a Superettan qualification match against Örebro SK.

History

Born on December 26, 2007, Adrian Lahdo grew up in the Stockholm suburb of Norsborg. He is proud of his Aramean/Syriac heritage and comes from a devout Syriac Orthodox Christian family. He is the younger brother of professional footballer Mayckel Lahdo.

Adrian began his footballing journey at Arameisk-Syrianska IF (Aramean-Syriac Sports Association) but moved to Hammarby IF at the age of five or six. A prodigy within the academy, he debuted in the U17 Allsvenskan at just 13 years old. By the summer of 2024, amid interest from giants like Juventus and Feyenoord, he signed his first three-year senior contract with Hammarby.

Lahdo made history on October 21, 2024, when he came off the bench in a derby win against Djurgårdens IF, becoming Hammarby’s youngest A-team player ever. He followed this up with his first start in the season finale against Västerås SK in November.

On the international stage, Lahdo has represented Sweden at the U17 and U19 levels. He made his national team debut in February 2024 and was a starter in all matches for Sweden during the U17 European Championship later that year.

Despite facing personal tragedy in 2022, when his cousin was a victim of a fatal shooting, Lahdo has shown immense resilience and focus, taking him from the local pitches of Norsborg to the top tier of Italian football.
