His Eminence Mor Athanasius Yeshue Samuel presides over the historic groundbreaking of St. Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church in Sherbrooke, the first and oldest Syriac Orthodox church in Canada, marking a new beginning for the Syriac Aramean community, many of whom had immigrated from Mardin as early as the mid 19th century.
