In the 1980s, a group of Aramean men stands beside an ancient stone cross from Tell ‘Ada, a village n the Antiochene district, about 30 to 48 km from Aleppo and 70 km from Antioch. There was a historic Syriac Orthodox monastery north of the village of Tell ‘Ada called the 'Great Monastery'. Once a center of learning and faith where St. Jacob of Edessa taught theology, philosophy, and the Syriac Scriptures, the monastery also became his final resting place in 708 AD.
