ArameansAramean Cultural Association in Gütersloh
The Aramean Association Gütersloh (Aramäische Volksverein Gütersloh 1987 e.V., known as Aramäer Gütersloh) was founded by a small group of sports enthusiasts, the association now boasts a respectable 250 registered members (2017). This growth is primarily due to the youth section, which has expanded significantly in recent years. As a result, the association is represented in almost all age groups and competes quite successfully in the leagues.
However, success is secondary; the main focus is on integrating young players into the senior teams. The Aramean Association has experienced several promotions and was an established club in the district league, where it played continuously for 15 years until its first relegation back to the county league two years ago. After narrowly missing promotion last year, the first team is aiming for another top position in the league, although promotion is not necessarily the primary objective. More important is ensuring that youth players are introduced to the senior level and that the teams can be filled with homegrown talent.
